An early morning trip to a nature preserve to photograph some whooping cranes turns into a mystery when Lacy finds a body in the reeds and calls 911. This light-hearted romance mystery is the kind of read that feels just right on a cool Fall evening, a cup of hot chocolate in hand. I loved the humor in the main characters when Lacy meets bumbling PI Mike while investigating the story for her local paper. Twists and turns in the plot kept me reading as the case turned into a puzzle. Meanwhile, Lacy and Mike find themselves attracted to each other, but both have issues they need to deal with before their relationship can progress.The culmination of the tension, in both the puzzling murder case and the young couple comes to an interesting head when Lacy finds what she has needed all along is a relationship with God and discovers information that helps solve the case at the same time.What I liked best about this story? The humor.
This is a sweet love story of second chances.When you have lost a love so special it is hard to ever let someone in your heart, or when you have been disappointed or hurt by someone you loved it is also hard to let go and love again.This is that story...I liked it a lot.
I really enjoyed this book. I started it before bed Friday night and got up early Sat. morning to finish it! I loved that it was a mystery and a romance. I laughed out loud several times when the main characters where teasing each other! One reviewer said that there wasn't enough tension and release in this book, but I don't agree, I often feel that books have an unbelievable amount tension and release like they are just trying to fill a certain amount of pages. When reading christian romance novels I will often find myself saying "Really? How many times can a couple misunderstand each other? Get on with it!" Not in this book, it was just right! As far as the mystery goes I had a few guesses on who the murderer was and one of my guesses was partly right, but I still was surprised by many of the details involved and enjoyed the journey of finding those out. I usually guess right in high budget movies too though so it is not a criticism that I had a hunch. I would love to see more from this author.
First, I love the title and how it comes about. Second, I do not understand why Amazon is not equippred for half star ratings as I would have given this 4-1/2 stars. I love mystery and romance combined and they were two very likeable main characters. I figured out who committed the murder early into the book, but that's okay. I wanted to see how it came about in the first place. It is a story about second chances and being able to move forward after much adversity, which is not an easy thing to do. I received this as a free purchasee from FB-Inspired Reads (I think that's what it's called). I do hope the author writes another book as I would be willing to purchase it.For a first time effort (assuming she doesn't write under other names), this was an excellent effort. You won't be wasting your time if you read it.
s.J. MacIver is an author I will read again and again. I thoroughly enjoyed her clean romance novel with a suspenseful twist. I enjoyed this book so much that I could not let the story end, so I voted book #2.RHONDA
I liked the story, I like that they weren’t jumping into bed with one another. I like that God was a prominent part of the story.
This was a great read with a few interesting twists. I liked the characters very much. Carol was a little too far out to believe.
I thought personally that Cinnamon Girl had an amazing build up and story line. The book would always leave me wondering what would happen next; it would make me want to read more! The story line, I thought, was very interesting. It had Lacy's personal life worked in with her work life and showed that it all had an impact on each other. Without her work she wouldn't have met Mike. Without meeting Mike she would have never found God again and would have never loved again. She was able to relate to a kid that was a suspect to a murder case. She helped him get out of his crisis and cleared up what happened in the murder case. The one thing that I was very confused about was the "side" story with the characters Martin and Sara Jones. It was not very clear on who they were and how they had a relationship with the story and the main characters. I also liked how the title was intertwined with the book. The way Mike called Lacy his Cinnamon Girl because of her eyes. He asked her out by calling her this, it was a different way of referring to Lacy.I would recommend this book to people who want an easy read, cute loving book, that leaves you suspicious.
