It is particularly great as a reference manual with easy to find solutions to most any problem. One of the best books on Stata I have ever read, if you are a beginner with Stata it will definitely get you started and if you are familiar with Stata already it will bring you to the next level.

I love this book because it is exactly what you would expect it to be: a practical guide. The book is very well organized. The writing is concise. I was able to find everything I needed.

Terrific book.

This book is well organized, well written, and provides a wealth of useful information on data management. Getting your data into shape for analysis is often one of the biggest tasks in a statistical project. If you're new to Stata (which I am, though I have experience with other statistical software), this acquaints you with the wealth of data management tools available. It doesn't cover every last detail, but once you know which commands will do what you want, getting additional details from the Stata help is easy. Having recently started using Stata, I've bought a half dozen books on various aspects of Stata. I go back to this one over and over and always find what I need quickly. The book is self-contained within topics, so you don't need to read the whole thing or understand chapters 1 through 6 to use something from chapter 7, for example. But it does provide useful cross-references, such as "Section xx gives further examples of the use of yyy." This book easily returns its value in time and headaches saved.

Michael Mitchell has filled a void. For anyone (statistician, clinician/researcher, data manager, and many more) using Stata for research, this book will be a very useful addition to their library. In contrast to other Stata books, Mitchell's work covers the technical details of how to actually manage your data. I have found that this particular aspect has been glossed over by most Stata books, despite its paramount importance. For those who are wondering, this book is quite different from The Workflow of Data Analysis Using Stata by J Scott Long. I have both and they both are well-used (I would say they are complementary). I enjoy Mitchell's writing style, which is informal enough to be approachable, but technically accurate and easy to navigate. The author is a well-known person within the Stata community who has credibility in this domain, and I thank him for creating this useful book.

Even with my college degree in English, I still find writing effective emails to be a challenge. Even when I think I've crafted the perfect request, I'm surprised by the recipients who didn't understand. Thanks to this short but informative book, I have identified several issues to address. In my work, I deal with many complex emails due to contracts and regulations, and I love the idea of using subheadings. Not sure why I didn't think of that. The "3Ws" will become my mantra "who, what, when" (assign work to individuals, give exact tasks, and set deadlines even if they are not in stone). I've also asked my boss if we can use his quick summary handout for internal training. I strongly urge you to spend an hour reading "Don't Reply All." Even if you don't learn something new, you will find validation if you are currently practicing some of these tactics.

This book is changing the way my teams function. After just a few days of sharing principles from this book, I'm finding that the communication among my team is improving and taking less time. If you manage virtual teams then I highly recommend you read this book and share it with you team because you will see positive results right away.

This was a required text for a junior college class on introduction to governmental accounting. I found book to be very useful, and personally work for a local sanitary district so the class was very helpful to understanding our method of accounting.

WHat can I say except that it was a necessity. The way the book is laid out is logical and builds upon each chapter. You can easily reference something by looking at index or even the table of contents. Book was in great condition from seller.

What can I say? I did not choose accounting, it chose me. This book was exactly as described and came relatively fast.

Item was as described. It is used but in like new condition. My prof decided to use a different text book at the last minute, but this one was only about $15 so it was not a huge loss. It still has a lot of usable information.

Looking back at pictures, I now see it does show a picture that it measures 6.8" high and fits in the palm of a hand (much larger than my hand I guess!), so it's not that it's a negative for me. What I don't like is that it's that proportioned when the first Cookie Craft book is much bigger. When I have books by the same author(s) I tend to think they'll fit together like a collection. This isn't the case, so I'm a bit disappointed with that. I like them to look cohesive on my bookshelf!As far as the content, it's ok. There are a lot of really basic designs. Being a cookie decorator who has self taught for the past year, it was a bit of a disappointment. I was hoping for new ideas and really cute cookies I never would have thought of. Instead it was a lot of basic Christmas cookies. I know there's people who don't have a cookie background that this book would benefit, but I feel like cookiers are more likely to purchase (and be disappointed) by Cookie Craft Christmas. I also don't care for the amount of fondant decorated cookies in the book. I don't tend to specifically make the cookies I see in the books, more use them as inspiration and to pick up tips on different techniques. That being said, there are many books that are far better.It's a Christmas AND Cookie book, so if you MUST have anything in those categories, it's great. I do love that it's a subject I love. But I wish it were better executed. When I look at this book (and its' predecessor), I tend to think it's just outdated. The photography isn't as vibrant as 'newer' ones, the cookie techniques seem to be a step behind, etc. Seeing that the book was published in 2009 wasn't a shock to me at all. There's plenty of newer, more cutting edge books. There's a lot more to be found on blogs, websites, social media, and pinterest. So if you're looking for really up to date ideas, look somewhere else. If you're looking for a good book for cookie bakers that pretty much only use their (limited) skills every christmas, you might be in luck!

One thing I didn't expect when I opened my Amazon box was to find that this book is only about 6 x 8 inches (it's TINY)! Who put my book in the dryer?Anyway, I'm a fan of these ladies' Cookie Craft book and I pre-ordered this one and eagerly awaited it's arrival, so after I read through the whole thing I came away feeling disappointed. That's it? I felt there were too many "easy" cookies that weren't that impressive. Their best work is all represented on the cover so I was hoping for much more of that, but didn't find it. Oh well, it's still a cute book that might give you some ideas to work with.Back to the size - you should take it into consideration because if you want it for a coffee table book, it's a bit too small for that. Also, if you want to prop it up on your counter to look at while you're working (like I do), good luck. You'll need something to keep the book open, but still not block what you're trying to see.It's a good book for straight-forward Christmas cookie icing with lots of style. It's worth buying!

I am presently working on detoxification of my body of all the mercury inflicted on my system by dentists.I find this book to be absolutely an important contribution to our knowledge of the matter, owing to its information about the toxicity of mercury and methods by which to flush it from our bodies.
