This book is well written and is very easy to understand. I use this book for Inmates and Detainees who are attempting to study for there GED test. Many of them have not been in school or studied for many years. It is great to see that they are able to make headway and understand the program and what they need to study. The points are concise and to the point.

I purchased this book for my son. He said it was the best study tool. He passed his GED test on the first try. He said the book was a tremendous help in helping him prepare. I withdrew him from school in December 2017 because he was too far behind to graduate. He took his test in two parts and used the book to study for about 2-3 weeks prior to taking the tests. His girlfriend is a junior and she was struggling with a math test that she needs to pass before she can become a senior. She’s had tutors, she reviewed the math portion along side my son and actually passed her test from the review in this book! Take adequate time to study with this book and you should be good to take your test. Good luck :)

Word of warning to any if they may be seeking what we were seeking. We ordered this for our daughter and were very disappointed that there are NO practice worksheets for the concepts being studied. This is ONLY a study guide, and doesn't include any pages of practice work. Possibly others knew what to, or not to, expect, but we may not have purchased it had we known. It does include some good guidance on the concepts of what is being studied, however, which is beneficial in itself. Just no practice for practical application included.

It tends to be difficult to keep my son's interest in anything other than videogames and YouTube. The downside of a pushbutton, instant gratification era.This story not only kept his attention, but he'd complain when we had to stop reading. Both of us greatly enjoyed it. Plus it helped teach good moral decisions.My son begged me to buy part 2 and I will be definitely purchasing it. Ninjas and pirates in one story!?! How cool is that? ;)

My 10-year-old son (headed to sixth grade) hates to read. I found this book and thought we'd give it a shot. He LOVED it. He has read the entire series, and has asked for the other books by this author. I've never seen him read like this. He is sad to see this series end. Not only has he read the books, he has talked about them and laughed about parts as he tells us about them. Definitely recommended!

Pretty good book for my 2nd and 4th grader. The started reading this book series last year and continued reading them. They asked me for the whole set. I would recommend to other moms. I notice though, that as you go up in the series the writing gets smaller, so be mindful of that.

I bought this book for my 11 years old son because he didn't like to read at all! So I was looking for a book that can atrack him and keep him reading and that's ecxactly what happen. Now he likes reading and enjoys reading fiction books.

My son who is ten years old enjoyed the book. As a parent too I was happy that it was a realistic story and exposes some of the bullying threats that may happen in a school in not the typical simplistic way but with all the complexities of life and friendship - and then it had a good ending where the characters made the right choices...it also deals with the theme of being a new kid in an unfamiliar school. The ninja element of course created all the excitement, and I liked the little bit of fantasy feel that the book has. I read this book to my two kids at bedtime, and I did skip over one or two rather gross fighting and blood descriptions...that was a little too violent for me. I will give the next book a try though...hard to find good books that interest boys. They just don't like the fairy stuff...

I really like.. love this book this is the 3rd time I’ve read it and each time I find something new I hadn’t read quite well last time. I recommend this book to people who are adventurous, love fantasy, and don’t have a problem with blood or bullies cause ye. I gave it 4 star because I don’t really like blood and in the end there is quite a lot but he treated it like a champ. If the author reads this (which probably not) keep up the good work.

my nephew loves these, this was the first one he read when he was 9 , this book was the transition from being read a bedtime story to reading by himself before bed, and know he reads a lot

This book has got a few typing errors in it. Despite that, I use it for my advanced English student and he loves the series. When we finished the first one I told him I could go get him more books so that he could have a wide variety, but he said he wanted to stick with the Diary of a Sixth Grade Ninja series. The first thing he asked me were, "Is this a series?"

I am a software engineer currently working on several web app projects. I have a moderate background in web app security and I bought this book in order to gain better insight on the subject.This book is poorly structured. It seems like the author compiled his scribbles and notes into a book without considering how they would fit together. The content is superficial at best and lacks examples. Moreover, it seems like the author has used this book as a stage to talk negatively on internet Explorer (we get it, it's a bad browser). I tried to give this book multiple chances but had to stop reading it around page 150. It's simply a bad book.I recommend to stay away from this book and consider other options (such as Web App Hacker Handbook) to anyone interested to learn web app security.

I'm about 25% through the book and it's a struggle. The book feels very thin in areas and all over the place. Like the Tangled web this book itself is a Tangled mess. It feels like I'm reading an encyclopedia, but without the depth or organization. At other times it feels like an extended dictionary. It's not a very long book either. It's more of a reference book. I'm not sure how this book is highly rated but definitely not a good read in my opinion and if I could, I would get my money back.

The book provides systematic coverage of browser security. The first 6 pages of chapter 1 provide brilliant insight into why formal security models, risk management and taxonomies fail to deliver promised security improvements to organizations that embrace them. I used to explain the same with a lot of hand weaving, Zalewski's approach and insight are far superior.Make no mistake, the book is focused on the browser and related technologies rather than the theory of security. The same tremendous insight, that made me nod with appreciation and wish that I had the book 5 years ago while working on security policies, illuminates browser concepts like in-browser content separation, scripting, and much more.I appreciate the authors treatment of each of the concepts in the context of the browser as a complex and still evolving technology, with it's own history, standards, market requirements and politics.

It's an impressive web and browser insideout.This book is for you, if you want to learn the pitfalls.

I loved this book! The story has several unexpected twists and turns and an ending that really caught me off-guard. The way the author builds each of the characters personalities (the twins, Zack and Lea; their mother, the woman who hires the twins to be nannies to her four children) are all carefully made interesting and complex in the way they interact with each other.

Angela sure knows how to take her readers for a ride. Zack's life is full of surprises and we are just as surprised as him at the outcome. One of Angela's more tender stories but, as always, with a positive outcome.

It is a great story and I probably will read it again in the future.

There is very few people born with this situation and a lot of times the Doctors will notice one set of organs developed more than the other so they will just do surgery to get it corrected, I like Cherie was born originally with both of them well developed and I was born in Germany so mine were left alone and started growing up one gender and I knew I had both but around Age 12 someone decided I needed to have something done and basically forced me the other direction witch in turn was not the right direction for me, so on this story I can relate.

In this book David Macaulay explains how Egyptian pyramids were constructed and although he has some fine pen and ink illustrations, they aren't as detailed or comprehensive as his other fine books like Mill or Castle.First, the story seems just a little disjointed and jumps from one section to the next without much of a bridging narrative. Second, I'm not sure that some of the explanations are really geared for grade school students (although I'm sure that many will instantly grasp what Macaulay is explaining). For instance, though the explanation how the surveyors determined true north is perfectly logical and clear, it does require a passing acquaintance with the sidereal movement of stars in the sky.There are a number of interesting facts in the book - how a newly constructed chamber would be filled with rubble and sand so workers and artist could finish the roof and ceiling and tops of columns (I wonder why they didn't bother with scaffolding).I think what actually is missing is a definite story with characters that link the sections together. In Mill, it was the story of the Plimptons and the planning and construction of a water powered mill; in Castle, it was the story of Lord Kevin LeStrange and the planning and construction of a castle in Aberwyvern, Wales and the growth of a town around it.Overall, this is not one of David Macaulay's best books but it does give pretty decent idea of how the great pyramids were constructed.

`Pyramid` (1975) is Macaulay's third book. It shows the building of a hypothetical pyramid similar in size to Giza. Unfortunately Macaulay took on a difficult subject. There is still controversy about how exactly the pyramids were built. The 4-ramp model shown in the book is just one of many ideas, and not even proven to work. The latest theory is described in Khufu: The Secrets Behind the Building of the Great Pyramid, involving a series of internal and external ramps (see a BBC article about it in the note below). Given this, it's hard to know what else in the book is accurate, or conjecture. Macaulay is at his best when he demystifies the world around us, but in this case the pyramids really are a mystery, and so it leaves the impression of inaccuracy. However we can probably assume some of it is right (the tools for example). Like all Maccaulay books, it's an enjoyable and impressive journey through history. Just don't rely on it as a blueprint for building your own pyramid!

My 5 year old really enjoyed this. Some of it is still over his head, and took my some time to figure out, but he still really enjoyed. I am a long time David Macaulay fan, so it was gratifying to see my son enjoy it as well.

I am a longtime fan of Davin Macaulay and own most of his books. They are richly illustrated and present complex ideas in a way that is easily understood by adults and children alike. So far, my grandchildren first come across Macaulay's books in my home. Pretty soon they are asking for their own copies which I happily give them.

Not what I expected, for sure. Written for junior high age readers, apparently. Illustrations were difficult to read even when opened up on my tablet. Just when I thought I had finished chapter One, I discovered I had finished the entire book! I saw other titles by David Macaulay, but I'm kind of gun shy now! It's not a bad book, just less than what I had hoped for.

Macaulay is the master of simplifying complex topics. He's easy to follow, extremely well illustrated, and gripping -- which is a lot to be said for an historic architecture series! If you like to know how things work, buy any of his books.

Classic book that I love. Scientific understanding of artful things, with lots of detail. This and Castle are my favorite from the series.

Great starter for young people interested in the monutmental projects of the ancient world.
