I read so far one third of the book. Gives great overview on Components and cost, ways to install and how to appropriately size a system. Even if you do not want to install your solar system yourself but you want to get it from a contractor it is a good idea to get this book. With this knowledge you will be able to understand the different types of components and installation requirements. Love it.

This worked fine for me as a starter but don't expect anything very detailed. If you know nothing about solar (like me), but have wired complete new houses (as I have) from new main panels to sub-panels to every outlet and light through a hundred J-boxes, you'll find this annoying. My worry is the technology of inverters, batteries, and racking, not hooking up conduit to the regular mains with wire nuts, where the author advises getting "professional help", all while making out that the solar end of it is a no-brainer once you read this book. I didn't get the equivalent of what many books purchased at home improvement stores give on home wiring, framing, or plumbing. It's simply not enough. But I don't regret the purchase. It's a fine starting point.

This book is the best I've read on solar tech so far. So good, in fact, that I doubt I'll be requiring any more.

This is an informative book. I know a fair amount about solar panels and systems but I learned quite a lot from this book.

Beautifully illustrated and explained book. It gives you in fine detail the technical part of the installation. Tons of photos and tips, a very worthwhile addition to your solar library. Not necessarily a book for the DIYer but still very informative and lots of info.

I have some general carpentry and electrical skills but not a lot. I found the way it was written easy to understand and comprehensive. After reading I am convinced I can install solar modules by myself and will hire electrician to finish connection. Should save me around $10000 from lowest bid I got. Well worth the price and effort to read.

This is a fun read and well written. I appreciate the light humor and the easy-to-understand technical aspects. A great gift for our eco minded family!

We had a copy of the 2015 PSAT test prep from Kaplan and decided to buy the 2018 edition since the 2015 would not give us access to the website. The best I can say about this copy is that it gave us access to the online portion of the website and the online test.However, the practice test in this book is IDENTICAL to the one in the 2015 edition. Seriously Kaplan? You couldn't get the energy up to creating a new practice test for the new edition of the book? The book has been really disappointing since it has a number of errors and the website is useful but you can find the same tests and coaching materials for free on Khan academy.Kaplan is really going to have to up it's game if it plans on continuing to have customers buy their newest test prep books

This 2019 version's practice portion is almost the same as 2018 version. The practice test is present in older PSAT book. My son found it useless since there is almost nothing new.

Other than perhaps minor editing changes, this is the exact same book as their 2017 "Strategies, Practice & Review" book. I understand that the strategies would be the same, but even the practice test, is identical. I bought the book for an updated practice test and wasted my money. Do not buy this book if you own the 2017 edition. I have included a photo of the first page of both practice tests side by side for review purposes.

I feel dumber already, having flubbed the first practice test. And I was a National Merit Finalist back in the 90s...Still, the test prep strategies seem to be working for the teenager on her way to take the PSAT and the Kaplan guide helped her with the ACT last year.Practice questions, explanations of right answers, all in, a good preparation book. Here's hoping it leads to good results, but you really only get one shot at the NMSQT side of this.

I found some questions that are either misprinted or unclear. My son was doing the online test then it was suddenly interrupted at the middle of the test. The software did not allow him to go back to complete the test.

We are shocked by the errors of the book. Just started Math session, one math session of Unit One Extra Practice of total 32 questions, there are 11 mistakes in the answer session. The answers are not line up with the questions. Also, Chapter Two Practice, missing information in Question # 11. We felt like the book was just copied and pasted from previous year's edition, and the company did not even bother to go through basic editing to make sure the accuracy of the book. Very disappointed. Kaplan is the BIG name in test prep business. We are very disappointed.

This book is exactly what it says it is. The cover says PSAT Prep 2018. I opened it up, and there were things to prepare ("prep") for the PSAT in 2018. Amazing. Well done, Kaplan, by putting things between the cover of the book that are relevant to the title.

My teen-aged son found this book to be very helpful and he did very well on the PSAT.

I was just recommending this book to a friend and got online to determine if it was still available; I am delighted it is. While a bit outdated in photos, the themes it contains are universal: Mommy and Daddy will always love you and this is about Mommy and Daddy not you (not your fault)and it is OK to feel sad or angry or anything else at all. I read this to my son when he was four years old and found it comforting to us both. It is so compassionate. It is, at times, hard for an adult to try to digest the enormity of divorce from a child's perspective but it is important. I gave my copy away about a year back and felt it was a true gift to the children to whom it would be read; I think this book would work well for children ages 3-8.

There is no need to expound on Mr. Roger's credentials: he is the standard for teaching children.Mr. Roger's book is aimed at the younger reader, with 2-3 sentences per pages and illustrated with photographs to reinforce each page's concept. It's clearly geared for the younger reader and the photographs are from a 1970's lifestyle, but the points the book makes are solid and simple. It's not flowery or verbose, instead it's direct in it's message to the child(ren) reading it: mom and dad love you. There's going to be some real changes and it's not fun, but they will always love you and take care of you.For those divorcing with young children (I'm guesstimating ages 3 through 7) the book as absolutely great. This is a classic demonstration of Fred Rogers' poignant and elegant ability to communicate with children.

It was Mr. Rogers voice in my head as I read it. He explains things so well!

I appreciate that Mr. Rogers deals with these issues no matter how tough they mean to be to bring up with. Parents could learn from him how to discuss this with your kids.

Miss the man. Happy to have his wisdom available on my bookshelf!

About the Author

John White was born in Liverpool, England, on March 5, 1924, and grew up in Manchester. After serving as a reconnaissance photographer in the Fleet Air Arms during World War II, he completed medical training at Manchester University. He later participated in a variety of short-term missions efforts (including Bible smuggling!) and capitalized on many opportunities to encourage Christians behind the Iron Curtain during the beginning of the Cold War. On June 25, 1955, White married Laureate May O'Hara. From 1955 to 1964 he served as a medical missionary with New Tribes Mission. Later he was appointed associate general secretary of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students of Latin America. White emigrated to Canada with his family in 1965 and later completed his residency in psychiatry in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He next filled the post of associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Manitoba and also served locally as pastor of Church of the Way. He wrote 25 books as well as numerous articles and study guides. A much sought-after speaker, he lectured around the world at churches, conferences and leadership events. During his later life, White moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, helping to plant a Vineyard church there (Surrey Vineyard) and becoming involved in the larger Vineyard Christian Fellowship. John White died in 2002, but his written ministry lives on, with over 1.5 million of his books in print.

Tales of a Shaman's Apprentice: An Ethnobotanist Searches for New Medicines in the Amazon Rain ForestI LOVE this book. To anyone who likes herbs or homeopathic remedies or science in general, you need to get this book. Yes, it's a little outdated what with it being about 2 decades old, but the reading is still there, and it's all true! It gives you a glimpse into what life was like in the deep, untouched forests back then and talks about who big pharma was already in the process of attempting to focus on their personal gain rather than supporting these shaman who knew so much about medicinal herbs and plants. I couldn't put this book down and ended up flying through it in less than a week. It's an easy read despite all the scientific plant names in it and is something I encourage all of you to look into.

This real life tale of an ethnobotanist learning from indigenous South American tribesmen and shamans is a jewel of a book. I didn't want it to end, though it ends in a way that fills me with hope and promise for the human race. Plotkin shares his experiences with native tribesmen as he learns the plants and medicines that they have relied upon, and gives the medicine men a voice at a time when Western Culture begins to dominate tribal life.. He paints a respectful portrait of the cultures and individual personalities in a way that takes you inside his circle of subjects, people who gave freely of their knowledge of the forest plants and their healing combinations and recipes. It's no surprise that I have given this book many times as a gift.

This book was assigned for one of my anthropology classes. I first thought it was going to be one of those books with information like an English book from a high school English class, but as I started reading it, it took me into the story all the way to the end.

A few years ago, I was fortunate to attend a lecture by Plotkin where he shared a few of his magical experiences in the Amazon. The book offers the wonder of Darwinian discoveries from the shaman's perspective and is a must read!

The author brings us to the reality of how the wisdom of indigenous peoples are the best knowledge and the wisest council in their domain, and the domain of life. It seems we often think of western cultures as being the "right" way, when in essence there are many "right" ways, and knowing and appreciating each others "right" ways shows us we only have part of the solution, not THE solution. Read and learn a significant amount about the Amazon Tropical Rainforest and its peoples, it will transform you.

Good book but completely outdated, and written with a level of optimism that borders on irresponsible.

Fascinating. Plotkin is one of the great pioneers in the research of medicinal uses of plants. This guy knows his ethnobiology.

This has been an interesting read. The delivery and service was efficient and timely with no problems encountered. I am happy to own this book as the sadness is in the diminishing culture of the wise men, trees, animals and knowledge from the Amazon and I have a personal account of the last of the wise people from an ancient culture hopefully being able to pass onto next generations.

I have read several books by this author. With each new one we come to realize the utter stupidity of the people in charge and their need to be the King of the Hill mentality.I wanted to get up and scream at aAlyssa to throw the tablets out of the helicopter; but of course there would not be another book on the horizon.The writing is fast paced and excitedly terrorizing.I look forward with bated breath for the next book. I just hope that we are all here to enjoy it!

This has been an amazing series! I live every bit of it! This author is one of very few who could capture my fascination so easily. Great read for anyone who loves adventures & mystery. I can’t wait for the next book!

This is a well written sequel in this three book seriesI eagerly await the next book to finish this action packed thriller!
