What an awesome mix of a classic song, turned into the perfect story for young children. With rhyming, counting, and a rhythm that will have you moving your feet. This is a fantastic, energetic read aloud!Accompanied with a CD featuring the original Footloose song, this book is the perfect gift for kids of all ages. A fun story, and cute illustrations, will have kids loving the discovery of what these silly animals do after their zoo closes. This is great picture book that young children will love to have read to them.We love the story, and the illustrations. I love that a song I grew up enjoying is now a song that has been recreated into a children's picture book, for even the youngest of kids to enjoy. This is a book that is definitely worth picking up!
Kenny Loggins has AGAIN provided an outstanding creation of fascinating children's literature in his newly released book "Footloose." In addition, his CD, ( given a slightly altered lyric change special for the book, will make both adults and children, "tweens" and over " tweens") JUST DANCE! Clearly this book, is meant to be enjoyed as/for/within a community of readers; for all to become engaged! Remember how a Full Moon Party brings much happiness, love, smiles, dancing, even cultural diversity understanding? So too in this book, within the zoo with the zookeeper, we see and feel magical as we journey through the fun night. The illustrations are fantastic! ( Thank you, Tim Bowes). What a great book! My grandchildren loved it and loved dancing to the accompanying CD with Footloose and the new lyrics.....written just for them to go along with the book. Our grandson who is 6 loved reading the book all by himself and loved it. Sang along in the book to the parts he already knew from the original song. The illustrations are beautiful! They will even keep adults fascinated with the cute characters and clever bits. Just a wonderful "keep in a safe place so the kids don't tear the pages" book. This is one book that will be a cherished special book on our shelf. Thank you Kenny Loggins, for helping us through the many years to make special, lasting family memories.
One thing I miss a lot after retiring as an elementary school principal is reading children's literature. Children in all grade levels K-5 used to stop by my office to loan me one of their favorite books to read. My goal was to read 100 books each school year. Our library-media specialist would post each title as I read them out by the library. I bought Kenny's book because I've been a fan for over 40 years and would buy anything he puts out. This book doesn't disappoint. Kenny's revised lyrics are fun and engaging, just reading them makes you want to sing. Bowers illustrations far exceed his goal to capture the energy of those lyrics, the book practically dances out of your hands. The colors are vibrant and the facial expressions on each animal on every page are animated and awesomely silly (check out Mr. Moon on several of the pages and on the CD).I highly recommend all Kindergarten teachers and Librarians put this on their shelves. What a great number for music teachers to include in their spring concerts. Oh ya, PE teachers, use the CD for a great way to warm up the young ones at the beginning of class. #Footloose4kids
FOOTLOOSE is Wonderfully written and illustrated. I love the book and the cd that comes with it. Just a fun book. My great niece and nephew will love it. Kenny LOGGINS is anmazingly talented musician and now children's author. I recommend anyone who has a child to get this book.even if you don't have a child, get a copy for yourself, it'll bring out the child in you. I Love It!
This book and CD combo are adorable! Kenny Loggins has taken an iconic song and turned it into lyrics that children will enjoy singing along & dancing to. The illustrator has done an incredible job of bringing each animal character to life and has given them a distinct personality to match both the story and the song lyrics! I bought one copy that I just gave as a gift. I was so impressed with the quality of the book that I am back ordering one for a keepsake and another for a holiday gift.
The book is great! Problem is the cover was all wrinkled with a tear and for a "new" book this is so not cool.Second book I have gotten from Amazon in bad shape. This is a gift too. Fortunately it is for a 3 year old who won't know the difference. Will just apologize to the parents as it looks used. Might remove cover.I expect better handling from Amazon.
This book is too cute!! The colors are bright and vibrant and keep my kids attention. The story follows along with the original "footloose" song (which i'm a huge fan of!), but has a cute twist related to the animals in the zoo. comes with a cute little CD as well!
