This book details the various ways to use Stata to clean and organize data. It has very helpful examples that make understanding concepts simple. It is particularly great as a reference manual with easy to find solutions to most any problem. One of the best books on Stata I have ever read, if you are a beginner with Stata it will definitely get you started and if you are familiar with Stata already it will bring you to the next level.

This book is very helpful with all sorts of data management tasks in Stata.

I love this book because it is exactly what you would expect it to be: a practical guide. The book is very well organized. The writing is concise. I was able to find everything I needed.

Terrific book.

This book is well organized, well written, and provides a wealth of useful information on data management. Getting your data into shape for analysis is often one of the biggest tasks in a statistical project. If you're new to Stata (which I am, though I have experience with other statistical software), this acquaints you with the wealth of data management tools available. It doesn't cover every last detail, but once you know which commands will do what you want, getting additional details from the Stata help is easy. Having recently started using Stata, I've bought a half dozen books on various aspects of Stata. I go back to this one over and over and always find what I need quickly. The book is self-contained within topics, so you don't need to read the whole thing or understand chapters 1 through 6 to use something from chapter 7, for example. But it does provide useful cross-references, such as "Section xx gives further examples of the use of yyy." This book easily returns its value in time and headaches saved.

Michael Mitchell has filled a void. For anyone (statistician, clinician/researcher, data manager, and many more) using Stata for research, this book will be a very useful addition to their library. In contrast to other Stata books, Mitchell's work covers the technical details of how to actually manage your data. I have found that this particular aspect has been glossed over by most Stata books, despite its paramount importance. For those who are wondering, this book is quite different from The Workflow of Data Analysis Using Stata by J Scott Long. I have both and they both are well-used (I would say they are complementary). I enjoy Mitchell's writing style, which is informal enough to be approachable, but technically accurate and easy to navigate. The author is a well-known person within the Stata community who has credibility in this domain, and I thank him for creating this useful book.

There's no shortage of books and tips and programs on how to handle and process email as if it's a 'problem' to be solved. That's because it is a problem to be solved. Even with my college degree in English, I still find writing effective emails to be a challenge. Even when I think I've crafted the perfect request, I'm surprised by the recipients who didn't understand. Thanks to this short but informative book, I have identified several issues to address. In my work, I deal with many complex emails due to contracts and regulations, and I love the idea of using subheadings. Not sure why I didn't think of that. The "3Ws" will become my mantra "who, what, when" (assign work to individuals, give exact tasks, and set deadlines even if they are not in stone). I've also asked my boss if we can use his quick summary handout for internal training. I strongly urge you to spend an hour reading "Don't Reply All." Even if you don't learn something new, you will find validation if you are currently practicing some of these tactics.

This book is changing the way my teams function. After just a few days of sharing principles from this book, I'm finding that the communication among my team is improving and taking less time. If you manage virtual teams then I highly recommend you read this book and share it with you team because you will see positive results right away.

Email is both extremely necessary and the bane of my existence at the same time. I've already begun enforcing some of the excellent tips in this book with my team and am starting to see improvements. I appreciate the fact that the author wrote a clear and concise book that, in part, is about being clear and concise! Lots of good ideas here and you can access them in one sitting.

Everyone should read this book to communicate successfully in the workplace. It is an easy read which is what I like about it the most. It is very well written, great style Hassan! The tactics and tips are summarized well and he gives great examples for everything which is so helpful! If I was a manager, I would purchase this book for all of my employees for Christmas! I work at Cisco and I did not realize that the author works at Cisco until I read the book. I will be recommending this book to all my friends and co-workers.
