I needed this book for my MBA finance class and initially rented it. I wound up regretting that decision because this book is a keeper, so I bought it, and I'm very glad I did. This book is a good reference to have after you've graduated and start to forget some of the finer points of finance. It's very well written, very easy to follow, and you don't need a background in differential equations to understand the topics and their application. I particularly like the way the authors present the concepts of risk and return by first examining individual securities and then progressing to a small portfolio. They could have just had a chapter called "Modern Portfolio Theory" and loaded it with all kinds of mathematical proofs and talk about the Markowitz Bullet. Instead, they take a craw-walk-run approach here and make this important material a lot more accessible. They take a similar approach throughout the book, and just do an outstanding job of presenting things in a very accessible way. I'm not normally one to get excited about textbooks, but this is definitely an exception. Don't rent it. Just buy it. Learn, understand, and apply its contents and you'll have a pretty nice ROI.

I have a love-hate relationship with this book. Whether you are taking this online or in class, I would recommend getting the tangible book, even if your " course key" includes an ebook. For me, mainly because it was online, Finance was a challenge. It is the next level of Accounting and will require your full attention and use of all the resources provided to you. Some of the examples were difficult to follow, that is, how the writer came to certain conclusions or solutions, so I had to reread often to understand the material. The rental version did not include an access code so I had to buy that separately, and the only option there was automatically came with the ebook. It was expensive so I used my credit card in order to make payments, but I would recommend this in addition to an included ebook or just the access code if finance does not come naturally to you.

Terrible Finance textbook. As far as having a textbook that teaches you things, this one is among the worst. I had to Google more answers than the textbook gave and reference an old textbook from a different author and publisher for assistance. I do not recommend and I hope that teachers stop using this one and find a better Finance textbook to use for courses.

This book does a good job explaining the material contained in it. However, when completing problems at the end of each chapter, there seems to be certain ones where steps needed to solve it aren't covered at all. I understand concepts building on each other (such as a problem with multiple steps requiring the use of material covered in previous chapters), but for some steps the material is completely missing from the book and required the use of Google. If your class also uses the associated Connect for homework, etc., the sections of text it claims the material originates from is only correct about half the time.

I had to take a graduate online finance class. I am going to my masters in accounting, but I never expected a book to be so complicated. I had such a hard time reading it. Not only that, but the homework questions/problems were FAR more advanced than the examples in chapters. It was so hard to read (I fell asleep multiple times) and I ended up having to do my own research on how to do the math problems. I believe McGraw also provides “discussion questions” for chapters; which are given to the professor. These questions were AWFUL. Again, I had to do hours of external research because the book did not provide any answers. Good luck with this awful-tear creating, Torturous book.

Never got the McGraw Hill access code with the eText version. Amazon makes it difficult to look for and provides no details about it. Very dissatisfied with this purchase.

This is a good textbook, I used a previous edition during undergrad and the current edition for a graduate level course. One major issue though - many of the answers in the back of the book for selected problems are incorrect. Inexcusable editing mistake for a textbook of this cost.

No registration card came with the book. I'm not able to register to get ebook access. It's gonna be very inconvenient throughout this class...

This is actually two reviews in one - one review for everyone who does not already own the original Vault of Walt that was published back in 2010. The other review is for those fortunate people who still own the original book. First, to everyone who does not own the original book - this is a very special Disney book that is written by the most knowledgeable Disney historian I know - Jim Korkis. I have read many of Jim's numerous articles on all facets of Disney history, his various other books, and have seen several of his video presentations in front of live audiences. Jim presents his information with fact, humor, and style. Unlike some other authors of Disney books, Jim does not let any bad experiences as a former employee of the Disney Corporation creep into his writings or live presentations. He stick to the facts, avoiding gushing about how perfect Walt Disney and the Disney Company was and is - and also avoiding demonizing every action by Walt or the company. I love that Jim shares many Disney stories that I have never heard before, many told with humor. He verifies or debunks the numerous "urban legends" about Disney, but he will clearly indicate when there are no facts to prove or disprove a rumor. This book is in 5 sections: Stories about Walt Disney, stories about the Disney films, stories about the Disney parks, "other worlds" stories about miscellaneous Disney, and info on Song Of The South - with answers to frequently asked questions. This last section refers to Jim's other recently published book "Who's Afraid Of Song Of The South ...", which I have also reviewed. Most people with any interest in Walt Disney and the Disney Company over the years will be entertained and amused by this book. One final plus to the book is that it contains a foreword by Diane Disney Miller, Walt Disney's daughter. I don't recall her doing a foreword to any other Disney book. If she has, I'm sure the number of Disney books with her foreword is very small. Second, to those who own the original book. In addition to the five new subjects that total about 41 pages, Jim adds some additional info throughout the book of the original book information. The new story titles are: Eating Like Walt, And The Oscar Goes To ... Walt Disney, The Carousel Of Progress, The Man Who Shot Walt Disney, and Song of the South: Frequently Asked Questions. One clarification - although this revised version appears to only be about one half the thickness of the original book, there are not that many pages missing from the original due to the way the books were published by different publishers. The original book has numerous blank pages that separate the stories, but those blank pages are numbered as part of the total pages. Also this newer book has nicer quality pages and a clearer / cleaner type for reading. Any Disney fan who enjoyed the original book will find much in this new book to make buying this book worthwhile. I have not mentioned the Kindle edition, because I don't own a Kindle.

Excellent stories. I'm a big Disney fan and have read fairly extensively about Walt but these were all new to me, which was nice because much of the information out there about him is the same stuff over and over. I enjoyed the short story format that the book is laid out, which makes for nice easy "pick up and go" reading. Also, I liked the stories and quotes from folks who knew and worked with Walt and their more personal tone. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and would recommend the book to other interested in Walt Disney.

I first picked up this book at my local library but really wanted a copy for myself and I have been minimizing and what was better than adding it to my Kindle. I found this book to be one of the most interesting book of short stories that is truly a hidden gem of Disney. I started reading on story they are all short and then I was done with it and I just had to read the next one and the next one because each was so interesting. If you are looking for that extra different stories you have not read before - this is the book for you to read. I have a long time dream of working for Disney and these stories could make me stand out and be interesting stories for a VIP tour guide.

I"m giving it 4 stars because the stories and history are really great. However, that is all that's carrying this book. The editing is atrocious. There are places where the author has said something and then repeats the exact paragraph on the next page. There are other places where he tells us something, then quotes someone's interview with the exact information. We don't need it twice.I really enjoyed each story, so I looked past the glaring editorial fails. I might even buy book 2 for the same reason, but if poor editing annoys you, maybe give this a pass.On the plus side, I can't recall any typos, just bad writing style and editing.

I'm old enough to remember Walt Disney. I can remember watching the first telecast of "Disneyland" where he tours the new park and talks about his ambitions for it and his show on television. I wanted to be on the Mickey Mouse Club, and looked forward to watching everything branded with the magic word, "Disney."So, for me, this book revives a good many wonderful memories of a man and a company that helped make my childhood fun. Korkis has set out to introduce the man who dreamed, planned, and directed the creation of animated shorts and features, live action films, and places that have inspired and entertained people for around 75 years.He's achieved this goal well. I highly recommend that you spend some time meeting Mickey's "father."

I expected a more engaging narrative with a more intimate portrait of Disney. There were definitely interesting facts, but this was not enough for me to consider the next volumes in the series. Often there were repetitions of facts in subsequent chapters. I realize these were separate articles that were compiled for this book, but it wasn't as cohesive as I wanted it to be.

Absolutely incredible book that is easy to read, enough so that you will not want to put it down. While there are topics to be found within that at first seem to be items that are already well known, and Disney fans may assume they know all there is to know about a given portion of the book, I can promise you that at least two or three new aspects of the topic will be presented to you that you did not know before. Jim Korkis is a true lover of all things Disney who always goes to extremes to present the facts in a straight forward and understandable way.

This was an easy 5 star for me. I read the guide before leaving for Oahu and used it while we were there. There was a group of 5 all various ages of adults (18, 22, 25, 45 and 67). If we were on any part of the island I knew where we could eat. There wasn't one surprise from the time we were seated until the check was delivered, this guide was always on target. I think Seven Brothers was the greatest local experience. The customer service was excellent and when asked how we found them I got to give props to this guide. This was my third trip to Hawaii and I truly feel this was the best trip of them all because we had the island laid out for us so that we could choose the vacation experiences that best fit our group as a whole. We saw so much. My kids had not ever been to Hawaii and could not believe how much we packed into a 7 day vacation. There wasn't any time wasted driving from one end of the island to the other because we missed something. From dining to the best times to visit sights and attractions this is spot on. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is visiting Oahu for the first time or even returning. We purchased the Oahu Go card 3 day passes and saved a lot of money. Additionally, we used Google maps on our phones to navigate the island and didn't have any issues getting around. Thank you for this guide, it made our trip more successful than I ever thought possible!

I downloaded samples of a lot of Oahu books and I just liked the vibe of this one. It seems more honest than the rest (in terms of criticizing tourist traps and telling you tricks). I am a big Rick Steves Europe fan and this book had a similar style. We bought this one and downloaded some of the other (Lonely Planet, etc) and we liked this best and planned our trip around its ideas. PS We loved the Polynesian Cultural Center - we ended up making the hour drive twice. Waikiki sucks (crowded and chain restaurants only). The zoo is not good. Lanakai Beach was awesome.

Worth the money, hands down. You are probably spending a great deal on a vacation in the first place, this is a cheap investment to ensure you have a good time while you're there. Great for one person to read about the destination you're going to while the other is driving.The book itself is made with quality paper and print. The glossy, professional pictures are welcome references for decision-making on your trip. The writing is colloquial and casual and makes you feel like you're welcome to explore everything that's offered. If you think you are going to get by just looking online for "things to do on Oahu" I guarantee you are going to miss out on many small (and some large) things. Everyone wants the vacation experience that nobody else has had and to come back with unique stories and memories; this author will lead you to where you can make those experiences. From which off-the-path place to stop for the best fried bananas on the island to the lesser known beaches and lookouts, it's got you covered.

This book covers the inception of the islands to the most recent events as it was was published in 2017. Its as though you uncovered the OAHU bible; like having a tour guide, travel agent, event planner and financial planner all in your back pocket.The most interesting fact is even though the "haiku stairs" has the most magnificent views of the Island, It is illegal. However, without breaking the law or running past security guards, you can actually legally hike to the top another route.. but you'll have to open page 212, once your book arrives in a day or two...The worst fact is that like all volcanic islands, eventually they will die and sink.. Meaning one day Hawaii will not exist. :(. But hey on the upside a new island is forming 20 miles off the coast and in 70,000 years or so will be blooming with tourism.....

A friend of mine let me borrow this book from her book but it was about 10 years older. I liked it so much I decided to buy the most recent edition for our upcoming trip. I love the down to earth writing and all the tips it gives. There are lots of maps as well. Everything is a very honest opinion and if they didn't like something - they let you know. Not sugar coat things like in some other books or avoid them altogether. Everything is included - from drives to snorkeling to dining to all kinds of activities. I only wish that when your purchase the book you got access to the app for free. I was debating buying the app for our trip but I have not heard good things so I think we will just travel with our book.

The book is a quality paperback for 14.25. The reason for only 3 stars is the price and the encouragement and evident need to purchase the smartphone app for another $17.99. It is possible that I can sell the book after vacation but the smartphone app will not be useful. At the very least, offer the app for free or substantial discount for purchase of the book and app. The app offers the same information as the book plus more real time information. The author talks about people offering to “help” but really wanting to sell you something. Sorry, Andrew, but you have fallen into the same mold.If I had not already bought the book, I would probably only buy the app. As it is I will probably use the book and download a different app.I will update my review on how useful the book actually is after our return from Hawaii. As for now, I do find the writer to be humorous.

It enhanced our vacation significantly.- Worked as a hiking guide, helping us pick levels of difficulty, beauty and distance- Helped us choose great restaurants, and what to order there- Didn't use it to choose where we stayed, but, accurate about that place- Really helped us choose beaches where my wife wouldn't encounter too much surf and I could swim or snorkleThe only problem is that so many people use it that some recommended places are very crowded. Private waterfall pools get busy, trails are getting worn down and you have to time your visits off hours.

Spaces are kind of small if you have a lot going on, but I like the amount of family members you can place on the calendar. The stickers are not very usable on the calendar in my opinion but all in all the calendar serves its purpose and is cute!

Have used another brand with same design and I’m so glad there is another option. This one is better and not cluttered with pictures throughout the month. Love it. Stickers are cute too.

This is a pretty well made calendar. I took off two stars because:1) We didn't get the "cool stickers" that were advertised2) It annoys me that "Mom" was preprinted in the calendar. It turns out that due to logistics in the family, it makes more sense to put Dad, then Mom, then the kids.3) Other calendars that I've had in the past with a similar layout had a pocket that folded out to be below the calendar. On this one, it is behind the calendar pages. Not a big deal, but I've grown used to it the other way and kinda liked that the dropdown pocket had a mini calendar for two full calendar years that I could reference. This one still has the two year calendar, but it's on the last page. On the upside, it's a lot bigger, but on the downside, you have to flip the page.

Purchased for a busy mom who’s children love Pete the Cat. Great price.

I love this calendar for jotting down the activities and appointments anyone in the household has for any given month. It allows everyone to easily see who has what going on and when. That makes it super easy for everyone in the household to see what's already going on when scheduling their own activities and appointments. It also serves as a reminder for everyone of where they're supposed to be or what they're going to be doing before making other arrangements.The reason I gave the calendar 4 stars instead of 5 is because MOM is printed on the top of the first column for each month. Not every household has a mother or father. Many are headed by grandparents, aunts, uncles, dads, older siblings, foster parents, and so forth. This is also a great calendar idea for busy roommates, couples without kids, etc.I'm using this calendar for my caregiver and myself for her days off and when I have appointments scheduled as well as other activities I've planned. It's easy enough to just ignore the MOM column but, still, I would rather it was one to just fill in like the others.Overall, I love this calendar and know it will make life a little easier knowing I can just glance up and see when my caregiver will be here or off so I can better schedule my time. And she can just glance up and see what I've got going on.

I requested this calendar because my daughter liked the Pete the Cat books previously. Also, she’d seen one of those family calendars in the store last year and wanted it. I did buy the calendar and found it very useful. I loved the pocket at the bottom where I could place bills until they’re paid.CONS: Unfortunately, this calendar is a disappointment in many ways. First, I should have paid more attention to the layout in the photos above. I don’t like it. It’s just not the way I’m used to looking at a month laid out. It makes me feel like I’m looking at a spreadsheet. That just gives me flashbacks about the most stressful bits of work.And the stickers are cute, but ultimately useless to me. The Family Calendar I bought previously had stickers for dental appointments, picture day, end of school, first day of school, etc. These can only be used for decoration. They’re dinosaurs, cats, shoes, and cupcakes.The pocket in the calendar is at the back and covered up by the calendar pages. So, it’s not really usable unless you want to put something back there and completely forget it.2 STARS: This might be a fun calendar for a kid. Though I like that it spans from August 2018 to December 2019, I may not even hang it. The layout just stresses me out.

All in all you get 17 months in this calendar even if a few of those months have already passed. so the calendar for each month opens up with a small picture of Pete at the top and then most of the pages are taking up with your daily schedule. There are five places for names of the top to help keep your schedule straight with a little room for each person to have an activity that day.It comes with a page of stickers for the kids or parents too put on the calendar. Oddly enough, these stickers don't really have much to do with activities as they're mostly pictures of dinosaurs, cats, a radio and a random assortment of flowers and hearts Etc. There is a pocket in the back to store the stickers or important notes. I don't necessarily think that's something that we are going to use often. I generally keep my schedule on my phone but it's nice to have this up in the kitchen where the kids can constantly view what is coming up. All in all, a handy calendar with cute pics at the top to make you smile.

We always start out the school year thinking we're all organized and all that. We're not. Because we are only organized until one child joins soccer, then another one, then band, then soccer games, then football games, then Bible groups, then.then.then. It's colossal.I always think it's funny when two children have to be picked up or dropped off at different sides of town at the exact same time.We don't even bother to hang this up anymore. We just leave it on the table to make it easier to make changes.All those things at the beginning of this? They all change daily.

If you don't have time to study, think through and review the lessons and do the "homework" at the end of each chapter, this book is going to be painful and easily out of control, by which I mean you will probably be lost unless you keep track of the materials covered in the previous chapters. Though I completed reading the entire book, I was only able to keep up with the first few chapters, reviewing and doing the exercise, and they are not easy. If I were to grade myself, I believe I barely got a C perhaps because I wasn't serious enough since I wasn't using this book in a more disciplined classroom environment. I wish I did. With this said, I have to say Geisler did an excellent job. This is an intro to logic with Christian overtone, a solid foundation for rational apologetics.

This book is not meant for casual reading (you have to think to understand this one), but it can help enlighten the casual reader (who does not want to study) if he/she skims through the first 90 pages (which require some study of terms and differences)and then coasts through the rest. Geisler and Brooks are Christian thinkers who understand thinking and logic, and they present the major components of logical thinking in a Christian context.The authors explain syllogisms and differentiate between a valid conclusion and an invalid conclusion. They also distinguish validity from actual truth (valid conclusions are not always actually true in reality; they are merely logically based on the premises presented). That's the stuff addressed in the first 90 pages.But the best part (and most enjoyable for me)began with chapter 6, "Informal Fallacies." This section was lighter reading. Since this is an election year, it would be a study in itself to compare political commentaries and supposed answers to questions with the logic presented in this volume!Since the authors are serious students of Scripture and Geisler is a celebrated Theologian, most of their examples come from familiar Bible texts or theological issues. Although I have stronger convictions about Sovereign Grace than do the authors, I really found their examples useful in the realm of hermenutics (Bible interpretation). They are solid defenders of an inerrant Bible and ethical interpretation.If you want to brush up your thinking skills, this might be a good place to start. "Fit Bodies, Fat Minds" by Os Guiness persuades us that the use of the mind has been neglected in evangelical communities, and Geisler and Brooks have written a work to help properly activate those little grey cells. Not really an easy read, and not for everyone, but a meaningful mind stretcher.

This book is an excellent introduction into the basic formulas and terminology of logic. All basics are covered: Syllogism, inductive, deductive, dilemma's, and so on. The reviewer from Vancover, WA, who unfairly rates this book low, brings up that Godel and Brouwer have demonstrated the inability of logic (paraphased);But didn't they use logic to reach that conclusion? - yes they did. Without logical thinking, all our statements and beliefs become nonsensical! Either logic is used or abused.Geisler and Brooks have written a great text and its only real (possible) flaw is that it is written from a conservative Christian viewpoint. Myself a Christian, I do see problems with people who will unfairly rate this book low or not give it a fair reading because of the overtly Christian stance. With that said, this is also the book's strength, because many Christians need to learn logic and may turn to this book because of the Geilser and Brook's religious position.The chapters on "informal fallacies" and "scientific thinking" are extremely well written for the primer level. This book is great from start to finish.

Come let us reason: An introduction to logical thinking by Norman Geisler and Ronald Brooks (1990) was more detailed than a similar book, Being Logical. I appreciated the additional depth, though Being Logical will be a great go to resource. With that said, the first several chapters of Come let us reason were difficult to understand. The complex notation of categorical syllogisms were challenging for me to grasp. As he began to flesh these thoughts out in the later chapters, however, I really found the initial information to be an important foundation. I will probably need to read through this book a few times to understand logic and be able to spot it in daily life. All in all, the authors not only establish the importance of logic for the Christian but the inherent logic of the Bible.

Very well written, and easy to follow.

Though I don't describe myself as a Christian anymore, the book has helped provoke many of the faith to think more logically, which will only add to their credibility.

This is a challenging and worthy introduction to logical thinking. My first experience diving into logic and Norman Geisler has presented the information in a way I am able to grasp.

After nearly 4 years of Instant Pot cooking, it takes a lot to persuade me to purchase a new cookbook at full price. I'll buy a discounted Kindle edition, but seldom buy new paper editions. This one seems worth the cost. It is large, with over 350 recipes, many of them covering two pages. It also claims to be written for every current model of Instant Pot, including the MAX. I usually cook for two people and own both a 6qt Duo (Thing 1) and 3qt Duo (Thing 2). Although I have no difficulty scaling recipes to fit Thing 2, it's nice to find a cookbook that includes adjustments for it. More importantly, the recipes are presented in a completely new way.Here's my TL:DR review; comprehensive cookbook with recipes to appeal to beginners and experienced IP cooks, has a good balance of plant-based, meat-centric, classic, and more interesting recipes. Has timing/instructions for every IP model, including slow cooker mode for some recipes. Has a few sous vide recipes for the MAX, also steaming recipes (often lacking in other cookbooks). Easy-to-read font size and colors. Has unusual chapter organization that won't appeal to everyone, index should be split. Some unusual techniques not often seen in other IP cookbooks. Not many photos. No nutritional info. Includes "Road Map" or master recipes that include customization options. Try the All-American Chili Road Map on p.114, you don't need to brown the beef, and it really works. I recommend the book if you don't mind the chapter organization.And the long-winded review: As I said, this cookbook is big, and when you first open it, I strongly encourage you to read the Introduction. In it, you'll find the why's and how's of using the book. You won't find IP operating instructions or general timing charts. Everything in this book is devoted to the recipes, with no filler. In the Introduction, the authors show how to read the recipes, how to read the timing charts for each recipe, and explain why the book is organized as it is. it also lists special items such as a 7-inch springform pan and 1-cup ramekins, that you'll need for some of the recipes. The authors do not recommend specific brands. I seldom read IP cookbook Introductions, but I'm glad I took the time to read this one, it has really helpful information that gives you a better grasp on the central premise of the book. Each Chapter also opens with 2-3 pages of FAQs and tips about using the recipes in the chapter. I recommend reading them, too, more than once. The book is printed on heavy, ivory stock with black type. There are a couple of insets with glossy, mostly full page, photos of about 35 recipes.Chapters include some of the usual suspects, like "Breakfast and Brunch", "Rice and Grains", and "Desserts". But it also has some very different Chapters, like "All Things Pulled", "Pasta Casseroles" (which aren't necessarily casseroles), "Shorter Braises and Stews", "Longer Braises and Stews" and "All Things Curried". You won't find chapters for Beef, Pork, Chicken, Fish, etc... I'm not sure I agree with their organization, but it's not completely off the wall and I'll no doubt grow accustomed to it in time. It does mean you'll get more use from the Index than you might with other cookbooks. The Index includes both ingredients and recipes by title. The book also contains a set of "Road Map" recipes scattered throughout (more about them below) that are listed in boldface in the Index. This is fine, except that they're listed multiple times and I find the bold type draws my eye too much. I'd be happier if these were split into a separate Index. One nice touch, the ToC includes a recipe list for each Chapter (in the Kindle edition they're clickable).The recipes are well-written (see my photos of a 2-page recipe and a single-page recipe), with large easy-to-read type. Ingredients are in boldface, timing is in small charts with red headers. Step numbers are also red, and at the top of the page are red tags like Vegan, Gluten-Free, Fast/Slow (these recipes include slow cooker timing), and so on. A complete list of tags and their meaning is given in the Introduction. Each recipe also includes a sidebar called "Beyond". Here you'll find necessary modifications (if any) for 3qt and 8qt models, ingredient and serving suggestions, and sometimes a recipe for a sauce, or something completely unexpected. All recipes are written to fit a 6qt Instant Pot and include the number of servings. Most recipes will work in 3, 6 or 8 quart models, although minor modifications may be needed. Most often that will be scaling the recipe in half to fit a 3 quart. There are a handful that won't fit in a 3qt, a few that won't work in a 8qt, and some that will only work in a 6 quart. There is no nutritional information.Tonight I cooked All-American Chili, a "Road Map" recipe. Road Maps are master recipes that call for some set ingredients and let you choose others from a list of options, using stated amounts. This is wonderful for a newer cook or one who likes to follow recipes, because she can customize a recipe and "make it her own" without worrying that her chosen ingredient won't work. In this one, the ingredients you choose are the type of allium, type of chili powder, type of beans, type of meat, and so on. Specific ingredients include cumin, oregano, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and a few more. The "Beyond" sidebar includes suggestions to amp up the heat, how to add more veggies, some topping suggestions, and an unexpected recipe to turn it into a Chili Casserole. I chose this particular recipe for my first test because it includes 2 unusual instructions. The meat is crumbled raw into the pot after sautéing is completed, and tomato paste is added after releasing pressure. I use both ingredients in my own ground beef chili, so I adjusted all of my usual ingredients to the stated amounts so I could compare the two directly. I've never made mine in a pressure cooker because after sweating onions and garlic, and blooming spices, I cook the tomato paste for a few minutes, then add the beef and cook it. I don't use a lot of liquid and have always been a little afraid of getting a burn notice. I'm pleased to report that this Road Map reproduced my chili perfectly, but took less time and more importantly, a lot less hand's-on time. Instead of 20 minutes of active cooking before switching to simmer for an hour, I spent about 5 minutes cooking, added everything else except tomato paste, then set it to pressure cook for 8 minutes with a quick release. After stirring in the tomato paste, it only needed another 10 minutes of resting time. Total time was around 40 minutes, but the true Wow factor for me was the greatly reduced active cooking time. The beef was a little more tender than in my stovetop version, too, another win. And it didn't burn.I was planning to wait until I'd cooked a few more recipes before posting a review, but the Chili used such an unusual technique and worked so well that I wanted to share it right away. So why 4 stars? Because of the decidedly odd Chapter organization and those darned boldface Road Map recipes in the Index. One last thing; while cooking the chili I had to weight the pages to keep the book open, but while referencing the book to write this review, the pages began to lay more naturally, as you can see in my photos.

Okay, there are about nine million Instant Pot books out there. It can be difficult and confusing to choose, as many of these books are excellent. I know, I end up buying most of them! But if you have an Instant Pot and are looking for one really good book to use with it, here are some reasons to buy this one:1. Authorized by the Instant Pot company. When you see this on a book, you can be assured that the recipes therein will actually work.2. Recipes were tested in every model of Instant Pot, from the Lux all the way up to the new Max. So it doesn't matter which one you have, the recipes will work. The only ones that will not work in ALL pots are the sous-vide ones, that are designed to work only in the Max. But considering that there are 350 recipes in the whole book, and only eight of them are sous-vide, that leaves you with 342 to try, if you have no plans to get the Max once it comes out.3. Many of the recipes can be adapted for the 3 quart Mini. Usually, they can just be halved, but if there are other considerations, or the recipe would not be successful if halved, they will tell you this.4. Easily available ingredients. A trip to your local supermarket will mostly likely provide everything you need to make these recipes. You will not have to hunt down an ethnic grocery store, or order ingredients online.5. Kids and adults alike will enjoy these recipes. No "weird" ingredients, but still plenty of flavor, and you can adjust the seasonings to you and your family's tastes.6. The "road maps". These give amounts of types of ingredients (cheese, meat, quick-cooking veggies, root/longer-cooking veggies, etc. You can mix and natch these based on what you like, or have on hand, or what you can find in the store. These lone may well be worth the price of the book, as they will help you save money by using what you have, what is on sale, whatever.7. Do you need visuals? While the book does not have a photo of every recipe in it (that would have driven up the cot of the book), the authors have just set up a YouTube channel with videos of recipes from the book, with more being added. Do a search on YouTube for "Cooking with Bruce & Mark" to find it.8. The recipes work and taste great, at least all I have tried so far have. You really can't go wrong here!

This is one of the best Instant Pot cookbooks on the market. Recipes are teriffic and the instructions are clear and precise, also giving variations when applicable. At first I was not sure if this would be the best book for a beginning Instant Pot user, but working with some of the recipes, they leave nothing to chance, no questions unanswered. An outstanding cookbook.
