A couple of weeks ago I was searching for a different kind of thesaurus recommended by Tina, a cousin-writer. I put the book in the shopping cart and spotted a Descriptionary. The price was right and my interests piqued so I bought that one as well - you can never have too many books. When the two books arrived I knew they were different immediately - all six-pounds worth. The Descriptionary has everything indexed so that it is easy to find. Each main title has smaller sections that cover almost anything you could imagine. The first main title is Animals and Insects, then under that there are sections like Animal Groups and Insects and Spiders; under those there are even smaller sections. It has been so much fun to read that I stay up later at night to read, just like a regular dictionary. Here are some of the main titles:Architecture, Art, Clothing and Fashion, Electronics, Environment, Finance, Food and Drink, Furniture, Human Body and Mind, Language, Law, Magic and the Occult, Medicine, Military, Music, Occupations, Performing Arts and Broadcasting, Religions, Science, Sports, Tools, Transportation, Weapons and lastly, Words and Expressions You Should Know.For example, under the main title of Military there are several sections, one of those is Air Force and Aircraft. Under that it lists things that pertain to that like "aeromedical evacuation - The transport of patients to and between hospital facilities by air" and "dumb bomb - any unguided bomb."The book is 711-pages long and at every turn you will find something to interest you. I love this book.

This is an excellent resource to find words in specific themed categories. There are a lot of words and different categories. It has saved my life several times whilst writing. It doesn't have everything, nor does it give an extensive description of the words, it's just enough to help you find things you are thinking for but can't remember the name or something similar. It's a great book overall. ​

I love this and got much poetry material from it. Also bought a copy for my 'word nerd' friend who wanted one of his own. A very unique reference book unlike a thesaurus; very specialized vocabularies- lots of scientific terms you may not stumble upon otherwise unless you are a specialist in those areas or you know exactly what you're looking for.Really valuable, fun and what a bargain.

Wow, I sure loved this true life adventure book. Though I'm not a whitewater river running guy, but I do other outdoor adventures, one doesn't need to be to enjoy this book and what this guy did over and over again. Way ahead of his time. I had a hard time putting the book down each night. And of course like others, the ending left many questions that results in only speculation. Much like "Into the Wild" ended with - speculation.

Engaging history of a young man who finds fulfillment in building boats and running rivers, but discovers that this focus is too narrow for true and lasting happiness. I enjoyed every page of this well written and thoroughly researched book.

After multiple private trips down the Grand Canyon, reading this story was absolutely delightful. Not to be missed amongst the multitude of book chronicling Grand Canyon river running adventure. Loved it.

A great book to read if you are a river rat. I live in Oregon and raft rivers and I had not heard about Carl. A great story about a very private and driven man.

I bought these for my students to do during indoor recess. They absolutely love them! I feel that the book could be for some younger ages as well. My students are 7 years old and they didn't struggle too much. Some of the word searches do seem easier than others so you can go through and look for ones that are easier than others.

It's very well made. Somehow I missed the age suggestion - my bad. I bought it to do with my 7 year old. She didn't find any of the words; I had to find them or give her a big hint. But neither of us do word searches outside of kids' restaurant menus! She decided we should circle other words we found. And she randomly circled some letters and claimed it was "coco"; I think she was trying to remain cheerful while pretending to "win" because she had to be a little frustrated. It took me a while to complete as well. I'm pretty smart in general but, as mentioned, not in the habit of doing word searches.

I really love this book for my 10 year old son. He is not one for word searches but he really likes this book. The graphic and the cartoons in the book are very funny! The words are big and the letters are spaced out enough to actually find the words. I really like the words that start with a letter(i.e. "B", "C")section at the end of the book. I used this for my son and his spelling words. Great book!

I find word searches very helpful in my daughter's executive function regulation. They encourage eye tracking, pattern recognition, word recognition, spelling, and more.This book is a great collection of interesting word searches difficult enough to seriously challenge my nine-year-old daughter. We have fun doing them together, working through frustration, and bonding.Love this book.

I have a seven year old that is constantly asking to buy word search books from the store, and sometimes they're a little too hard or she has trouble pronouncing the words. This kids word search book was wonderful! She gets it out when we are taking road trips, or just when she's done with her screen time. The words are age appropriate, and we purchased the 9-12 year old book in order to challenge her a bit more. It was definitely worth it for us!

My 8 year old loves word searches. I got him this book on his birthday last month and he really likes it. The word searches are definitely a little more difficult than the beginner ones. It took me a while to find some of the words. Great purchase. Keeps him busy in church and long car rides.

I like word searches and think it is wonderful that I can do this with my grand daughter for fun with educational information the we can both learn from.

(R&N information overloads sometimes)Pretty much worth four starts.Example==========================Chapter 21 compared to R&N chapter 18 my opinion is it is better in this book on basic theory.R&N information overloads in most cases it diverts busy reader (working students) getting the basics first.

This book is decent but it is showing its age both in terms of content and style. The theory explored is still relevant and it is a good companion to an AI course.

It's too bad that MIT OCW doesn't have a series of video lectures to accompany this textbook. But then again, if the textbook is good enough, it won't need lectures.

New as expected.

Winston's book is really terrible. I mean truly repellently, malignantly bad. "Can it really be as bad as all that?" you wonder. Yes!! It's that bad!! For starters, the book is poorly organized. Topics that logically belong together are often several chapters apart. There is no overall structure to the book. It seems like a collection of topics in AI that were hastily assembled without concern for thematic organization or flow. For example, the forward and backward chaining algorithms are presented in a chapter (Ch. 7) on rule-based systems, but are not even mentioned in the chapter (Ch. 13) on logic! Perceptron training is presented AFTER backpropagation! Contrast this with the much better book by Russell and Norvig, which uses the theme of intelligent agents as a continuing motivation throughout, and which groups related topics into logically arranged chapters.The examples in Winston are atrocious. The main example in the backpropagation chapter is some kind of classification network with a bizarre topography. This example is so trivial and weird that it totally fails to illustrate the strengths of backpropagation. The explanations of generalization and overfitting in backprop training are awful.The only chapter of this book that is not an unmitigated pedagogical disaster is the chapter on genetic algorithms, although better introductions exist (e.g. Melanie Mitchell).A further annoyance is the placement of all the exercises at the end of the book instead of the end of the chapters to which they correspond.Avoid this book. It is truly horrible, and vastly superior books on AI are readily available at comparable prices.

What a great book! My grandchildren loved it and loved dancing to the accompanying CD with Footloose and the new lyrics.....written just for them to go along with the book. Our grandson who is 6 loved reading the book all by himself and loved it. Sang along in the book to the parts he already knew from the original song. The illustrations are beautiful! They will even keep adults fascinated with the cute characters and clever bits. Just a wonderful "keep in a safe place so the kids don't tear the pages" book. One thing I miss a lot after retiring as an elementary school principal is reading children's literature. Children in all grade levels K-5 used to stop by my office to loan me one of their favorite books to read. My goal was to read 100 books each school year. Our library-media specialist would post each title as I read them out by the library. I bought Kenny's book because I've been a fan for over 40 years and would buy anything he puts out. This book doesn't disappoint. Kenny's revised lyrics are fun and engaging, just reading them makes you want to sing. Bowers illustrations far exceed his goal to capture the energy of those lyrics, the book practically dances out of your hands. The colors are vibrant and the facial expressions on each animal on every page are animated and awesomely silly (check out Mr. Moon on several of the pages and on the CD).I highly recommend all Kindergarten teachers and Librarians put this on their shelves. What a great number for music teachers to include in their spring concerts. Oh ya, PE teachers, use the CD for a great way to warm up the young ones at the beginning of class. #Footloose4kids

This book and CD combo are adorable! Kenny Loggins has taken an iconic song and turned it into lyrics that children will enjoy singing along & dancing to. The illustrator has done an incredible job of bringing each animal character to life and has given them a distinct personality to match both the story and the song lyrics! I bought one copy that I just gave as a gift. I was so impressed with the quality of the book that I am back ordering one for a keepsake and another for a holiday gift.

This is an awesome educational book. Gives perspectives on YL and on many other sources in the field of E.O.'s as well as educates you on Essential Oils. Be prepared it is very educational, meaning it can get a little snoozish. But it is a Chemistry book which anyone and everyone can understand. If you aren't that interested in all the bits and pieces of this science and field maybe not the book for you. I however love it, even if I have to have coffee while reading some portions :) A great educational tool for anyone working in the field, going into the field, or wanting to educate themselves for their own personal health reasons. It is a awesome find. I was so happy to receive it for the Amazon price!

Chemistry was my primary passion for 14 years of my life, including conducting graduate research in neurochemistry, but I almost didn't buy this book because of one of the reviewers saying that it was "replete with errors".But the book has so many great reviews I decided to take a chance on it, even though I already own a large collection of excellent aromatherapy books. Boy am I glad I did!The book is superb!The nit-picking reviewer who criticized it really doesn't know that they're talking about, the vast majority of the content is rock-solid.And the book is entertaining, informative, and has superb and extensive tables of detailed information that one can't find anywhere else.Priceless.

Written by a chemistry teacher who became an expert on essential oils, I have read through this book three or four times. The use of these oils extends far far beyond something that smell good, and can be used to revitalize and help heal the body. Makes sense, since that's what they do in plants, and they also work incredible well in us humans, if we know how to use them. Very highly recommended book for understanding how these oils actually work in our own bodies.
