For the average computer user like myself this book helped me become proficient in Excel. They use common language for the average person to understand and also teach you the differences between each excel program. By the time you get through the first 4 chapters you will feel very confident that you are able to make a basic spreadsheet. I now feel that I am an intermediate level Excel user after finishing the book and highly recommend it to someone who like me was a bit terrified using this program because I knew nothing.

This review is not about Greg Harvey's book nor about the translation thereof. Rather, the link for the Kindle edition of the English version of Excel 2016 for Dummies goes to the Spanish-language edition. In the photo, the word "para" is so small (at least on my screen) that it is hard to notice the change until you go to download the book. It is not at all clear where/how to report this, other than here.

I did not know a great deal about Excel and was forced to have to learn it quickly due to an MBA class that I was taking. This book served to be a great resource to help me. I did not read it cover to cover but used it to help me do specific projects and set up specific templates when needed. I have it sitting on my Kindle ready to go in case I need it again.

Still a little complicated for me. Maybe should be excel for beginning dummies.

This book is clearly written with energy and the author obviously enjoyed doing what he was doing. You can buy this one.

I took on a new position at work this year that involved spreadsheets. While I have used spreadsheets, I have never created them. This book is a huge help. I consult it daily. If you're new to the Excel world, I highly recommend it.

I guess I'm more of a dummy than I think. I think it goes all over the place.

As an old man using a computer at work every day, this book is indispensable. I use it almost every day as a reference and guide for Excel. Worth buying if you use Office Excel a lot.

Either way this book doesn't give any evidence to support any of it's claims and suppositions. According to Huntington you should only eat two servings of fruit a day, maybe, but where does he or she get that? For that matter who is R. Huntington? There is no information on this person, no medical degrees or educational background, you don't even know what their name is. Before I'm going to take medical or health advice someone, I'd like to know who they are and what their credentials are.

This book talks about Natural Fatty Liver disease without taking the reader to the medical complexities. The style of writing is easy to understand and the tips are easy to follow. The book is full of useful information. This book has list and tips about food and beverages that are to be avoided to minimize the damage on your liver and improve your health. Reading this book was a learning experience. The step by step guidance makes this book really helpful. Highly recommended.

I have a non alcohol fatty liver cause by medications, so I am always looking for information on the subject. This is a very informative and easy to read book. I picked up a few new tips, worth the price.

This book goes into the different types of therapies to help those with a fatty liver. Some are fairly easy like exercise and sleep. The best section is what to eat and what to avoid.There is a section about liver cleanses that the author cautions people not to do if they have various health problems. I believe that section does not do enough to make sure people are aware of problems that can occur if they perform the flush and have issues with their gall bladders. A better and bigger warning ought to be in that section. Otherwise this is a helpful quick read on improving fatty liver issues.

Now that I'm convinced I don't actually have fatty liver (thank you) I found this book interesting for all the other information. There is stuff here on healthy eating, detox diets, liver cleanse, weight loss and more. If you are concerned about your liver this is worth a read even if you don't suffer from fatty liver. The older I get and the more I read these types of books the more I am intrigued by the whole healthy eating, good foods trends today.

I hardly believe when a doctor tell me there's no cure but a long period of observation. That's why I always ask for a second opinion. Doctors might be lying about natural ways but not in this entire argument. Natural ways are enemies of some hospitals nowadays. One being healthy is a subtraction on their patient. I had the author's mother as a writing teacher when I was in college, and cleaned her apartment from time to time in my early twenties. She had soft sheepskin rugs on the floor that were heck to clean. The painting Gaby writes about, of her mother, hung in her apartment, as well, and the presence of Gaby's father was everywhere, although they were divorced. Thalia was warm, mentoring, pushy, affectionate, enthusiastic, and capable of sulking, too. She was complex. When I was around 21 she pushed a short story into my hands, literally, right outside of her office on campus, and said, "You need to read this." It was "In the Garden of the North American Martyrs," by Tobias Wolff. I read it over and over. I applied to study with him, and a couple of years later entered the graduate writing program where he taught. Thalia changed the course of my life by that single gesture. I was very curious to read about her as a mother. Reading this book made me feel grateful for her life and influence. She talked openly to me then about feeling obscured and eclipsed by her famous husband -- and yet look at what she did, at her age and given that period of time. Her accomplishments and friendships were impressive. Her perspective was unique to me at that time in my life. She was one of the first teachers in my life who said, basically, "Let them say whatever they're going to say. It's your job to bloom, nevertheless. Just do your best." Thank you, Thalia. The world of art- its characters, movements, and masterpiecesâ€” is also recollected with affection by someone whose life is intricately woven within it.She recalls growing up among the Abstract Expressionists, visiting with the Rothkos and other well-known figures such as Jean Tiguley, Karel Appel and Max Beckman. For those familiar with the artists and movements, she brings new and intriguing stories and observations, while those readers less familiar are also brought along with concise descriptions of their importance. At all times, Gabrielle balances her personal story with the larger historical narrative.Her mother, a writer of fiction whose animated journals excerpts are included, comes alive in her own words as well as her daughterâ€™s. One can see how Gabrielle carries on the legacy of both her motherâ€™s literary aspirations and her fatherâ€™s artistic devotion.This many-layered novel ends with Gabrielleâ€™s growing into her ownâ€”she is able to look back with the clarity of a witness, yet never loses the bittersweet emotional tone of one who lived through it all. I found it to be a moving coming-of-age tale as well as a firsthand historical narrative creatively told.

Unstill Life is an amazing story and Gabrielle Selz is a master story teller. She invites you in to her personal life which is poignant, yet she's able to convey her story as if the reader had a ring side seat in her life.What is evident is the love that she has for her father in spite of all his antics with women. He is a lovable, charming and complicated personality as is her mother who was quite a strong woman and successful in her own right. What amazing lives they lead. I enjoyed this story from the first page and was sorry it had to end I was so captured in the lives of the artists, the parties and the 60's.I highly recommend this book. I'm looking forward to follow this author, she's amazing.

Interesting insight into the 1950s and 1960s art scene and artists in New York City, then later and broader. Also a very nice job of story telling.

Gabrielle Selz was able to bring to life the period of the 1960s and beyond in the art world of abstract expressionist and performance artists.See page 333 for a very poignant depiction of Alzheimer's as her mother slips away.

This is a great book. Not many people may know about Peter Selz. This is a nice introduction to him, the Selz family and the time period in the art world. It helped me imagine Gabrielle's childhood and the artists that were, and still are, a part of her life.

I devoured this in one sitting and hated myself for not savoring slowly- it's a delicious treat that I found impossible to put down once I'd begun. A fascinating story about modern art from behind the scenes, NYC in the " Mad Men" days, about our parents and the complex love that some (all?) of us have with them and it's a great easy breezy lovely read...I'm jealous of those who have yet to eat this yummy treat!

Beautifully written, this memoir about art and family held my interest so thoroughly that I could hardly put it down. Looking at the 20th century art world through the eyes of Ms Selz was almost like being there myself! Highly recommended for an intimate look at the relationship...for one compelling family...between art and life.

There are several reasons. One of which is that it requires a great deal of co-ordination and co-operation among the telcos and government. That is the norm in Asia but absent in America. She explains why this is crucial. It is no use having the fibres if you cannot bring them through the last-mile, that is, into the homes of the citizens. This is not happening in America whereas â€˜China is installing twenty-thousand last-mile fiber optic connections every single dayâ€™. Only 11 million American households out of 126 million are fibre connectedâ€¦ South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore have virtually 100 percent fiber adoption at low pricesâ€¦â€™ And that is one key factor â€“ low prices. The problem does not lie with the Asian countries but with Americaâ€™s own big businesses and telcos. Some seem to be deliberately ignoring the importance of fibre optics by repeating the claim that eventually, everything will be wireless. Crawford dispels this ignorant claim. Wifi cannot work unless the fibres bring the load near enough to its reach â€“ in other words, to the last mile. The problems are manifold and Crawford wraps up all the last bits in the chapter, â€˜What Stands in the Wayâ€™. As she says, fibre optics alone wonâ€™t make an area thrive, but without it, â€˜thriving wonâ€™t happenâ€™.

Crawford does a great job with explaining why we're missing out when we don't deploy fiber in our communities. Her book addresses the duopoly business models around telco/cable, and how that is being replicated in the mobile service marketplace, and how fiber is a key component of a more competitive future.

Crawford makes the case for a reassessment of current policy to ensure the public interest is given the weight it warrants to prepare America for the fiber telecom infrastructure it needs today and for the future.

I had been wanting to make my dogs food for a while now, but recipes I found online scared me away from it. They were all so complicated! I also read that if your homemade food doesn't have the proper nutrition a dog needs then it can be one of the worst things you can feed your dog. Between those two things I decided to stick with the kibble for a while. Then I stumbled on this cookbook. Hallelujah!The beginning of the book is full of great information like foods that are good/bad for dogs, how much to feed them, what supplements to put in the food to make sure you are meeting their nutritional needs, etc. Then the book is divided into cooked recipes, raw recipes, and snacks and the recipes are EASY. Some require some ingredients that you may not usually keep on hand (like quinoa pasta or chicken liver), but making a list beforehand is helpful with that. Most are about 4-6 ingredients total I would say.Now, after cooking my dog REAL food, I can't imagine going back to that disgusting kibble. Ew. Imagine eating hard, dry pellets everyday for your whole life and then eating beef stew... Could you imagine how good that would taste?? I will never make my dog eat that crap again.

I've fed my 3 dogs home cooked meals for over 10 years. I'm always looking for a good cook book and but they all fall short in one way or another. I purchased Home Cooking For Your Dog by Christine Filardi after reading the reviews on Amazon. I love EVERYTHING about this book!!! The Basic Food Chart and Serving Size Chart are excellent guides and the recipes are complete, nutritious and easy to follow. You can also contact the author and she responds quickly! My 3 doxies give the book 3 butt wagging tail approvals with extra sloppy kisses!

I purchased "Home Cooking- For Your Dog several months ago. I can't recommend this book highly enough! I have several other books on the subject but this is by far my favorite of all. It is the most informative, educational, practical and helpful book I have read on home made diets for your 4 legged companions. I love the removable bookmark food chart & serving size chart.

Haven't tried any recipes yet but did preview the book. It's well written and recipes seem simple enough without any hard to find ingredients. I like that she gives portion size and servings based on a 50lb dog. Though that has some variation, it did give me something to go off of when I do cook for my 3 small dogs that are a combined total of 25 lbs. I've cooked for my dogs in the past when occasionally someone has been ill & during winter months when even they have a case of the blues. It's not always as convienent as opening a can or bag, but I notice a huge difference in their coats when I do so. It doesn't have to be that complicated. At the most, it can take an hour or two of your time on a weekend and then you should be set for the week. It also doesn't have to be incredibly expensive as grain free & raw food store boughts are way pricier. In the end, when I first had dogs as an adult, I fed my dogs crap cheap dry kibble. They never complained, but I always noticed dry skin or icky dandruff like coats. Those poor dogs also developed fatty tumors & cloudy eyes once middle age hit. The dogs I have now have been fed mostly limited grain diets with more variety as omnivores (veggies, fruits, fish, etc). They have shiny coats, clear eyes & are relatively health issue free. If you're a dog lover, the benefit of a happy, healthy dog is worth a little extra effort.

I have been a RAW feeder for several years. I wanted to add some home cooking to my dogs diet and this book was perfect. I have been making recipes from this book for a couple of months now and my dogs love it. I love that the book includes recipes for home cooking and raw!

It was not really written for a small dog. I have an 8 pound chihuahua and the recipes were for large dogs. I was able to get a sense of what to feed him, but not the quantity of each ingredient.

good info to home feed your dogs. wish it had more info about what additional vitamins/nutrients/suppliments are required for their diet. also wish it better explained if the protein/fat/carb percentages were by weight, volume, or calories (i assume by calories). the author herself was nice enough to directly answer some questions via email; i thought that was cool

These are recipes to use and feed your dog! So easy and the they are gobbled down with thanks and a tail-wag! We have a Sheltie who had trouble w/every kind of kibble, it would start out ok, then by the end of the bag, upset tummy and more. Even the vet recommended variety caused him problems. So, I studied this cook book (all of the details are included to get off kibble) and started to "cook" for the dog ; ) So far so good (two months in with "Home Cooking").The greatest thing w/this book: you can e-mail the author! And she responds! So any particular questions, she is there for you.

Flipping through "load balancing" I get a novel and completely wrong explanation for what the DNS director does.Stick with the freely available docs or "The Varnish Book" (also free). More effort has been put into these than this piece of garbage.

This book is great to get your feet wet in varnish, with some great tips on caching to improve your ratios. Worth a read for beginners.

It's recomended for beginers on the path to use the amazing varnish to create a awesome cache layer in your web application.That's because the book give an overview about writing VCLs with good materials to start from.

A very good piece of documentation to get through Varnish cache capabilities with clear examples of real needs and solutions. It is good both as a reference and as a beginners tutorial.

Overall, this is a solid and short (only 56 pages) guide for anyone who has no-to-minimal experience with Varnish.Note:It does expect some knowledge of the HTTP protocol.Pros:Beginners should get enough information to understand how to bootstrap their first installation and achieve most basic needs, without being intimidated by the man pages or the vcl language.Intermediate users should still benefit from a deeper understanding of Varnish routines, default behaviors, and considerations that should be made when running it in front of a dynamic web site.Cons:Intermediate users will likely finish this book in under an hour and will be wishing for more.

I had this book as a child, and absolutely loved it. Now that I'm expecting my first child, I wanted to purchase this for her to read when she gets older. The poems are short, easy to comprehend, and still funny to me in my early 30's. I love the book itself, and also the nostalgia I get from reading it again as an adult.

It seems to be very trendy to solicit books instead of a card for baby showers these days and this is my "Go To". Every time. It actually annoys me to see someone else bring the same book to a shower. That's how much of my "go to" it is. I feel selfishly possessive like I wrote it myself. I loved his books when I was younger, I read them to my own kids, I pass them on for others... You should do the same. Unless you're going to be at a shower with me.

Got this book because it was one of my favorite and most memorable as a child and I wanted my son to enjoy. He enjoyed the funny poems as much as I did. I want to get him Light in the Attic and Giving Tree too. Binding and printing are excellent and it's a nice hardcover that should last for years. If you haven't read a Shel Silverstein poem book (or if your children haven't) I recommend starting with this one or Light in the Attic. They both have awesome fun poems. Where the Sidewalk Ends is the first one I read way back in the late 1980s and was quickly followed by Light in the Attic and I have remembered bits of some of the poems ever since.. they were that good (and funny) to me as a child. The illustrations (also by the author) are fun too and will be enjoyed. A great gift.

This is a timeless book. I still enjoy reading it from my copy I received when I was 7 years old. This is my go-to gift for any future mom's at baby showers. It'll last a lifetime time, they'll read it to them for bed time stories, the child will eventually read them by themselves and then it can read and enjoyed as an adult. I highly recommend this book and others by the same author.,

This was one of my favorite books as a kid, and is the book that got me interested in poetry.Flash forward several years later, while student teaching in a fourth grade classroom and teaching a unit on poetry, I introduced my class of 12 nine and ten year olds to this book. Most of them loved it! During independent reading time, the two Shel Silverstein books in the classroom were the first taken by students for the next couple of weeks.Now, another few years later, I've purchased this for my soon-to-be-eight year old niece. I am so excited to gift this to her, and just know it is going to spark a love of poetry in her as well.

I've been waiting for my children to get old enough to enjoy Silverstein, and we've finally made it!My (almost) 5 year old loves this book. We read 4 or 5 poems together every day before bed. My 2 year old could care less about the silly poems and Shel's wit, however.I love it!

I bought this as a gift for my nephews but before giving it to them, I bought colored pencils and colored in all of the pictures to help bring the wonderful poems to life. It's a great quality book with a slip cover to keep it nice. I would buy this again.

I gave this to my girlfriend as a present. She's been reading it since childhood and didn't have a copy of her own. I read a few pages of it and everything seems really nice. It's a good book of poems and drawings and I would definitely recommend to both children and adults.Sorry, I wish I could write a longer review (I generally do), but it's pretty simple here. It's a book full of poems and drawings. The poems and drawings are good, easy to read for most ages, and the book is in good condition. Couldn't be happier with my purchase and my girlfriend loves having her own copy :)

I bought this for my very creative Granddaughter who is borderline genius and has some compartmentalism problems. When she opened her Christmas gift, she instantly fell in love with it. I hadnâ€™t realized my daughter had this book tucked away from her childhood (which is why the title seemed so familiar). Whatâ€™s funny is their other Grandma bought our oldest Granddaughter the same book, and she loved hers just as much.

Wow. I can't believe only one other person has reviewed this. I picked up this book looking for some direction to living out my newfound faith and belief that was most akin to my own inquisitive nature, and was overall impressed with Malcolm Boyd's approach to speaking to the Lord Jesus.There is a certain poetry and eloquence to much of it that I'm sure was intentional and makes it more accessible ("Save us from ourselves; spare us the evil of our hearts' good intentions, unbrideled and mad..."), but more than just hollow, pretty words, its really the searching, the uncertainty, the humanity in it all that seems most close to how the average Christian prays on their own. I'd reccommend this. It was what I was looking for. Boyd writes at one point "I want to pray in my doing and being, Jesus". These are words I've absorbed into my own daily prayers.

I love this author. The Church and society tried to stop him from being Malcolm Boyd. He held on tight to Christ and survived all attempts to shut him up. Yes, Jesus ran with him while others ran against him.

Malcolm Boyd writes from his heart exposing the anguish and the questions that all of us experience. These are not feel good prayers these are the prayers of the questioning soul.

Reading these prayers and reflections brought me back to my early Seminary days in the Roman Catholic Church. Malcolm Boyd's insightful and challenging perspectives of a world in dire need of change insipired me to become a Priest and today as an Episcopal Bishop. These spiritual reflections and cultural challenges embolden me to act justly and serve God's people to this very day. The saints truly live among us if we only we listen carefully, look critically and pray deeply.

Remember this from Jr. High days. full of very good prayers. relevant today and very thought provoking. a very good read indeed.

I read the original version when it first came out, and found it applicable then to the challenges of race relations, a war that really wasn't necessary, and an economy that seemed bent on more riches while tossing off employees once past a certain age or income level, unless one went to certain schools, or played politics. Malcolm has done fine with his revision, and his message, that we're still valuable, that life has meaning, and we've not been abandoned, still comes through. His approach to whatever one calls his/her Source of Life is most assuredly well thought out. It is not so much how long the prayers, or the wording, or even the approach taken. It's whether, after one is done 'praying', in whatever manner that be - and no one form, person, or even strain of Christianity - it is the sense that the paryer is heard, believed, that counts.
